Poetry makes a comeback in Crouch End

Crouch End’s favourite live poetry and spoken word gig Friggers of Speech have announced that they’re planning a season of monthly gigs at Crouchie’s legendary music and comedy venue Downstairs at the Kings Head.

The first gig is next Tuesday 26th March and features Downstairs’ veteran Otiz Cannelloni, local podcaster & poet Brian Luff, and former Classic FM presenter (and Friggers’ founder, Alan Wolfson).

This poetic trio will be joined by a fantastic line-up of guest poets including Poetcurious, Abe Gibson, Milverton Wallace, Rachel Rhodes-Puckett, Alison Hills and Michael Pierce.

Brian Luff told us, “Poetry is more popular than ever in London right now, with gigs almost every night of the week in the capital. We plan to make Friggers a regular monthly event for poetry-lovers in Crouch End!”

If you fancy getting up and sharing a little poetry of your own there’ll also be some impromptu open mic spots.

It’s cheaper to book in advance than pay on the door, so order a couple of tickets today before the first gig sells out!Buy Tickets

Doors open 8pm. Tickets on door £9/£8, or in advance £7/£6.
